Browse and Find
Reviewing large collections of references is much easier with Sente's Browser,
which lets you quickly narrow down large lists of references based on any number of criteria,
such as authors, year of publication, keywords, etc.
And you can combine these criteria to whatever depth is needed to find just the papers you are looking for.
Sente's Find command makes locating specific references quick and easy.
Search across the entire reference or restrict the search to specific fields.
Either way, you will find just what you are looking for.
Smart Collections
One of the most powerful features in Sente is the ability to define smart collections.
Like smart folders in OS X,
smart collections automatically build up their contents based on rules that you specify.
For example, you can create a smart collection for references that contain, say,
the term "hypoglycemia", anywhere in the title or abstract.
Whenever you display the contents of this smart collection,
it will contain only those papers from its parent collection
(which could be the entire library) that include that term.
As you add papers to the parent collection
(either manually, or through the automatic search updating)
any papers that contain "hypoglycemia" will automatically be added to the smart collection.
Or, you might create a smart collection that only includes papers from,
for example, any of your favorite ten journals.
Place a copy of this smart collection under any search that you perform
and you will immediately have a subset of the search results from just your top journals.
Because smart collections can be deeply nested,
you can slice and dice your references any way you want.
When new results arrive through the daily update feature,
they are automatically evaluated right along with all the other references.
Merging Search Results
Sometimes it takes multiple, distinct searches to gather all of the references on a single topic,
and often these searches will return many of the same papers.
But you do not want to have to look at papers more than once,
so Sente enables you to eliminate the duplication,
by placing multiple searches in a single, parent collection.
When these searches are executed, duplicate results will automatically be eliminated in the parent collection.
And, of course, you can then filter this parent collection
just like any other collection to create dynamic subsets of the merged results.
Integrated Note-Taking
Sente also lets you attach as many notes as you want to each reference.
Each note can include a quotation, images, page numbers and your thoughts.
Particularly important when reviewing larger works,
having multiple notes per reference makes it easier for you to sort through
your thoughts as you write up your next paper.
