Third Street Software Forums: Sente 5 Released

Third Street Software is pleased to announce the official release of Sente 5.

Sente 5 is a major update to the software (the biggest Sente update ever, in fact). Here are the highlights:

New Main Window and Reference Editor. The main window has been completely updated and it includes two versions of the new reference editor/viewer, which are easily customizable so that you can show just the fields that matter to you, in the order you want to see them. After all, a molecular biologist thinks about references differently than a student of ancient literature.

Improved Bibliographies. Sente 5 includes many new bibliography formatting features designed to support complex formats like Chicago and APA. These and other formats have been updated to take advantage of these new features, so Sente can now produce better bibliographies than ever before. The Sente 5 MS Word plugin now supports citations in footnotes. And Sente 5 can now scan RTF files, so you can work with many more word processors than before.

New Library Structure. The way in which Sente stores its data has been changed so that all references in a library are now stored in a single database file, and it is now easy to browse and search an entire library at one time. This new structure enables Sente 5 to handle much more data than earlier versions of Sente (e.g., on an Intel Mac with 1GB RAM, you can easily work with tens of thousands of references in a single library). These new libraries include a Trash collection, so accidentally deleted references can be easily retrieved.
